The Importance of Orientation

At the core of Bright Steps Academy, our mission is to create a nurturing and inspiring environment where your child comes first, fostering their growth, joy and unique potential every step of the way.

Orientation is a vital first step in that journey. It gives your child the chance to become familiar with their new environment, meet their educators and begin forming meaningful relationships, all while supported by the comfort of your presence.

The orientation also provides an opportunity for our families an opportunity to begin building trusting relationships with our team.

Every Child is Unique

We know and acknowledge that each child is unique and this will mean that orientation for each family will vary for everyone.

During your orientation, we encourage you to share your child’s interests, routines and further insight into your child. These details provide the strong foundation of knowledge we then implement as we care and support their learning and development. Taking every opportunity to make sure our children feel secure and respected in their new environment.

Your Family Handbook

As part of our orientation process, our team will also provide you with our “Family Handbook”: which outlines and provides further insight into how our centre operates, along with key policies and procedures.
This resource will help you feel informed and supported as your child begins their time with us.

Preparing for the First Day

In the lead-up to your child’s first day, you can begin preparing them by talking positively about their new service.

If and where possible, consider easing in with shorter sessions to help your child gradually adjust into the new environment and routine.

At drop-off, please consider arriving a little early allows time for a calm and reassuring goodbye, perhaps after settling into a favourite experience or environment, guided and supported by a familiar educator.

At pick-up time, take a moment to reconnect with your child, taking a moment to discuss: what they played with, who they spent time with or what literacy was ready during the day, these simple questions show your interest and help build reflection and emotional confidence.

Ongoing Support from Our Educators

Our educators are here every step of the way to support both you and your child. We will keep you updated on their progress, provide settling tips, and remain available if you’d like to check in during the day, either through OWNA or a phone call as hearing about their progress can provide a peace of mind for all.
